ROSH MAHTANI

FOUNDER, ALIGHERI

Rosh uses jewellery as a medium for telling stories and building community. She founded Aligheri after being inspired by famed Italian poet Dante, and each of her hand-sculpted ‘modern heirloom’ pieces are named after elements from Dante’s magnum opus, ‘The Divine Comedy’.

Each Aligheri piece is intentionally designed to be imperfect, to honour its unique process and nod back to Rosh’s childhood pastime of inventing stories around found objects. All collections are also made from ethically sourced or recycled materials, and proceeds from online sales were donated to the Trussell Trust and Refuge during London’s first COVID-19 lockdown.
Rosh’s love of storytelling has caught the eye of several celebrities, including Michaela Coel who made her viral Emmy’s acceptance speech in Aligheri earrings. She has been profiled by Vogue, Soho House and Business of Fashion, and was personally given the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design by Princess Anne.
