STYLIST & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Reva redirects her love of fashion to break down monolithic images of South Asian culture. Her looks fluidly incorporate South Asian-inspired elements like draping and colour-blocking: reflecting her Indian roots without being reductive, and creating space for more nuanced forms of personal and cultural expression.
Online, Reva goes by her blogging alias ‘Hybrid Hues’, which she created to share her early looks with the world. Ironically, Reva’s experiments with style came from experiencing body-shaming as a curvy teenager – leading her to try out silhouettes that both reflected her taste and covered up her natural shape. This evolved into her first styling gig, where she dressed models for Not Your Dulhan: a visual series interrogating community stereotypes of the perfect dulhan (bride).
After years of balancing her creative styling projects with a full-time corporate job, Reva is now a full-time visual storyteller and stylist. Her career highlights so far include styling music videos for Raveena’s Temptation and Kelly Rowland’s Hitman, as well as art-directing fashion and beauty campaigns for Puma x Swarovski, and LiveTinted. Most recently, she has collaborated with photographer Simrah Farrukh on ongoing portraiture series Notes from Your Past. It blends photography and painting in homage to archival South Asian portraits, and intends to spark conversations around gender, diaspora identity and collective memories of the past.
