Rooshad is set on breathing new life into traditional Indian craftsmanship. His Mumbai-based firm RS works with artisans across India, giving them renewed relevance in the world of luxury design. 

Recent collaborations have seen Rooshad popularise long-standing crafting techniques like embroidery on wood, marble carving and inlay, and wood carving. Another popular collection features wood furniture decorated with colourful pressed flowers. RS has been acclaimed in several publications, while Rooshad himself has been awarded by Elle Decor, NDTV, Good Homes and the Institute of Indian Designers (IID).

RS is also behind The Gyaan Project: an initiative that uses craft to support and promote education in India. It has supported educational outreach in remote parts of Maharashtra and funded the construction of a girl’s school. Their most recent effort is to turn children’s doodles into marble keepsakes: with sales from each piece supporting craftsmen and funding a year of schooling for one girl.
