Karan’s signature style is vibrant, fun, dynamic – and completely self-taught. He combines hypnotic op-art patterns with playful minimalism, in an approach he describes as ‘bright, colourful, organised chaos’.

After first studying interaction design, Karan switched his focus to visual art: a decision that has led him to work in Sydney, Tokyo, New York, Malmö and now Amsterdam. Today, his portfolio is just as far-ranging. Highlights include designing the cover of Bernadine Evaristo’s Booker Prize winning novel Girl, Woman, Other, being commissioned by the Motion Picture Academy to design the 2021 Oscar Nominations artwork, and making it onto the splash page for Adobe Illustrator.
Karan credits his ‘Daily Quickies’ project as the starting point for the opportunities that have come his way to date. He’s spoken about the importance of everyday creativity in several interviews, and still makes a point of working on personal projects to hone his craft.
