Sana is changing the rules of engagement in the historically white, male-dominated world of comics. She is best known for co-creating Ms Marvel, featuring teenage shapeshifter Kamala Khan: Marvel Comics’ first and only Muslim female superhero.

Since launching, Ms Marvel has won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story, made the New York Times Bestsellers list and has been Marvel’s top digital-selling title more than once. The print edition is also going into a rare 7th printing, with a Disney adaptation coming soon. Sana has said her inspiration for Kamala’s character came from having a lack of relatable heroes when growing up as a Pakistani-American child. Ironically Sana’s outsider perspective is why she was approached at Marvel: and why she is now responsible for evolving their superheroes to reflect an increasingly diverse audience of fans. Sana’s other credits include Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and the Black Panther series in collaboration with award-winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates.
