POPPY JAY

Podcast host

Poppy is breaking down shame and stigma around sex, one frank discussion at a time. She’s one third of award-winning BBC podcast Brown Girls Do It Too, which takes a candid look at sex, relationships and cultural expectations through a South Asian lens.

Brown Girls Do It Too has run for two seasons. In that time it has been awarded Podcast of the Year and Best Sex and Relationships Podcast at the British Podcast Awards, and been praised by The Guardian, i and The Times. Until recently, Poppy also hosted Groupchat, her own BBC Asian Network show exploring issues relevant to young British Asians.

Off the airwaves, Poppy is known for her thought-provoking human interest documentaries on Channel 4, BBC and Vice. She has won Gold for Best New Presenter at the ARIA awards, and is a regular face on other podcasts and panels. She continues to be outspoken on issues she feels are overlooked in the mainstream, in modern South Asian households, and within the British Bangladeshi community.
