NIKESH SHUKLA

AUTHOR

Nikesh has made it his mission to highlight diverse voices in publishing, and has become a central figurehead and mentor in the UK literary scene. One of his best-known releases is The Good Immigrant, a critically-acclaimed essay collection reflecting on race, which he edited and launched after a crowdfunded campaign.

To date, Nikesh has written a mixture of 11 YA fiction and non-fiction books. He is also co-editor of the follow-up essay collection The Good Immigrant USA, and a former columnist for The Observer, The Guardian and The Pool. His most recent non-fiction release, Brown Baby, has a podcast of the same name – on which he talks to fellow parents of brown babies about their parenting journeys. His other notable initiatives include co-founding The Good Literary Agency for under-represented writers, and the annual Jhalak Prize for British writers of colour.

Nikesh has been named a leader for the next generation by Time Magazine, and one of The Bookseller's 100 most influential people in publishing. He has also been shortlisted for the Liberty Human Rights Arts Award, and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, among other titles.

His upcoming book is a how-to guide for writers, drawn from his extensive writing experience.
