ADIB CHOWDHURY

PHOTOJOURNALIST

Adib turns his camera lens onto social issues including forced migration, conflict, and the environment: giving a human face to stories of struggle and survival. After being raised between Bangladesh and England, he now lives in London – though his reportage and photography work frequently leads him further afield.

So far, Adib’s projects have taken him to Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Reflecting his academic background in International Conflict Studies, he was based on the fringes of the Syrian war when reporting on the forced migration of local communities. He has also travelled to Rakhine state, along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, to document the Rohingya crisis as it was unfolding. Adib’s photos from Rakhine have recently been showcased in his first solo exhibition, Letters From Arakan. They have also gone on to win Silver at the Tokyo International Foto Awards.

Adib’s other photos and writing have been featured in Suitcase, The Guardian, Agence France Presse, BBC World Service, Al Jazeera, the Financial Times, WIRED and Le Monde. He is also helping to document more diverse human stories as a full member of Diversify Photo and SOPA Images.
