PRIYA KRISHNA

FOOD WRITER

Priya is known for her fresh outlook on Indian-American cuisine, earning acclaim for creations like roti pizza and daal burritos. She also recently made a high-profile departure from food publisher Bon Appetit, where she worked for two years, after calling out their racial pay gap.

Priya has several cookery books under her belt, with her recipes included in many others. Her first title, Indian-ish, is a tribute to her family’s cooking and was written together with her mother Ritu. On its release, The New York Times, Food & Wine, Eater and others named it one of the best cookbooks of the season. Her most recent book is focused on home cooking, and creating tasty dishes without following rigid rules.

After taking a break, Priya is now back in the world of food as a staff reporter at the Times Food desk. She’s adapting recipes, sharing stories and hosting video content, and plans to use her new appointment to help increase the number of new voices at the Times.
