KAVI AHUJA MOLTZ
Founder, DS and Durga
Kavi and her husband David turn the things they love, into scents everyone can love. David makes their home-made, small-batch perfumes and colognes from premium raw materials, while Kavi uses her former training as an architect to design their packaging.
For an added personal touch, the brand is named after them both. D.S. are David’s initials, and Durga is his nickname for Kavi – taken from 1950s Satyajit Ray film. Their scents are influenced by David’s eclectic interests in herbs, local myths and legends, history, Americana and landscapes: like Big Sur After Rain, Cowboy Grass, Wild Brooklyn Lavender and Burning Barbershop. They’ve also dedicated an entire line to Norse mythology, and nodded to Kavi’s Indian roots by releasing a Diwali candle. Their next venture is likely to be a summer open-air perfumery, where people can buy their scents from a truck that they will be driving around New York City. Kavi also plans to launch an upcoming line of Indian-inspired fragrances in the near future.
