IMRAN AMED
FOUNDER, BUSINESS OF FASHION
Imran holds the enviable title of ‘fashion’s most influential man’. Despite being an industry outsider, his blog-turned-media company The Business Of Fashion (BoF) has become the authority on all things fashion, luxury and style.
Imran also breaks various norms as a leader. He is unafraid to speak his mind and call out inequality, and is known for his curious and empathetic leadership style, which isn’t typically associated with the fashion industry.
BoF’s success is partly down to timing: it launched at the same time as the first iPhone and social media networks. But thanks to Imran’s insight as a former management consultant, it also offered the only analytical, business take on fashion news. His daily fashion roundup now has thousands of readers, including the industry’s most influential designers, models and editors. Kate Moss also famously used BoF to announce the launch of her own talent agency.
A decade on, Imran’s services to fashion have earned him an MBE, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Central Saint Martins. He’s also been name-checked on various lists, from the 50 Most Influential Global Indians (Indian GQ) and the Most Creative People In Business (Fast Company) to the 100 most influential figures in the UK digital economy (Wired).
